US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a press conference on Wednesday that Iran is likely not ready to reach a deal but may be ready soon, noting that his country is committed to an agreement with Iran.

Rubio affirmed that President Donald Trump's policy is based on the principle of 'an eye for an eye,' warning that 'Iran will pay a heavy price.'

However, the US Secretary of State, on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit, indicated that despite Iran's bravado, 'it is suffering immensely and will continue to do so.'

The US minister stressed that Washington seeks to rid Iran of nuclear weapons.

Regarding nuclear energy agreements, Rubio confirmed that his country is always looking for opportunities to conclude nuclear deals, noting that America seeks to be the preferred partner in civil nuclear energy agreements.

Rubio said that any nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia or other countries would have guarantees, and that nuclear agreements will be presented to Congress.

On the other hand, the US Secretary of State affirmed that his country will not be part of the International Criminal Court and its jurisdiction cannot be applied to America.

He said, 'There are lunatics and mentally disturbed people in the International Criminal Court.'
