* US President Donald Trump: - The blockade includes Iranian ships while other countries will have 'fair and open use of the Strait of Hormuz'

- Washington will charge 20 percent of the value of all shipments passing through the strait to cover the costs of providing security and safety in the region

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States will reimpose the blockade on Iran, stressing that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to ships of all countries, except Iranian ships or those belonging to entities dealing with Iran.

Trump said in a post on his platform 'Truth Social' that 'The Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open, whether with or without Iran's participation.'

He added: 'We will reimpose the Iranian blockade, so named because it is limited to preventing Iranian ships or their agents from entering or leaving.'

He explained that all other countries will enjoy 'fair and open use' of the Strait of Hormuz, announcing that the United States will take on the mission of protecting the sea lane under an operation named 'Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz.'

For days, the United States has been launching attacks on Iran under the pretext of responding to Tehran's targeting of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran responds by bombing what it says are US military facilities in Arab countries, while some of those countries have announced that Iranian attacks resulted in civilian casualties and damaged civilian facilities.

Trump added that Washington will charge 20 percent of the value of all shipments passing through the strait to cover the costs of providing security and safety in the region, which he described as 'very volatile.'

He indicated that procedures for implementing this mechanism and beginning its formation 'will start immediately.'

Shortly before that, the spokesman for the 'Khatam al-Anbiya' central headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, said that his country 'has not and will not allow the United States to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz.'

He warned that the Iranian Armed Forces will take action against ships attempting to cross the strait without its approval or without adhering to the route designated by Iran, adding that the operations carried out by the Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guard in recent days are clear proof of that.

He also warned the countries of the region that providing logistical support for US attacks would constitute a declaration of war, and that this could lead to the expansion of the war and affect all countries in the region.

The night from Saturday to Sunday witnessed mutual strikes between Washington and Tehran, while the Revolutionary Guard announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation 'until further notice.'

The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, 2026.

Washington and Tehran had previously signed a memorandum of understanding in June 2026 that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, paving the way for a final agreement to end the war, before Trump announced on July 8 that the ceasefire had ended amid renewed escalation.
