Burhaneddin Duran, head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency, denounced the provocative incursion led by an Israeli minister against the Al-Aqsa Mosque accompanied by extremist groups.
These diplomatic positions come at a time when the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites are witnessing ongoing tensions due to escalating field measures.
Duran published his stance in a post on the 'X' platform on Thursday, emphasizing that any violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque is absolutely unacceptable.
He explained that 'such unilateral steps by the Netanyahu government, which is committing genocide, aimed at undermining the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, lead to an escalation of tension in the region and harm hopes for lasting peace.'
He added: 'As President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasizes on every occasion, preserving the historical status of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque is not only a regional responsibility but a shared responsibility of the international community.'
He stressed that Turkey, under the leadership of Erdoğan, will continue to firmly defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the rights of Jerusalem based on international law.
In the same context, Itamar Ben-Gvir, the extremist Israeli National Security Minister, carried out an incursion into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning in occupied East Jerusalem, under heavy guard from Israeli police and accompanied by settlers and Knesset members.
These developments underscore the depth of political divergence regarding the legal and historical status of the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites. Ankara continues to affirm its firm stance supporting Palestinian rights based on international charters. Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a central axis in regional and international diplomatic discussions concerning the path to calm and peace. The international community closely follows the repercussions of these incursions on security and political stability in the region.
