Ukraine announced that it received the remains of 501 of its soldiers from Russia, who were killed during the war between the two countries.

The Ukrainian Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said in a statement on Thursday that an exchange of remains of soldiers killed in the war was conducted between the two sides.

The statement explained that Russia handed over to Ukraine the remains of 501 Ukrainian soldiers, and that the competent authorities will begin procedures to identify the dead.

The center expressed its gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its support of the repatriation process.

In return, Russian media confirmed that Moscow handed over to Ukraine the remains of 501 of its soldiers, while it received the remains of 31 Russian soldiers.

It is worth noting that Russia has been waging a military attack on its neighbor Ukraine since February 24, 2022, demanding that Kyiv abandon joining Western military entities to end it, which Kyiv considers "interference" in its affairs.
