UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the situation in the Middle East is spiraling out of control and approaching a stage of 'loss of control'.

Guterres stressed in a briefing to the UN Security Council that there is no military solution to the current crises and that diplomacy remains the only way to make progress and stop the slide towards wider confrontations.

He emphasized the importance of excluding the language of arms in any geopolitical divisions, calling on UN Security Council member states to be guided by the spirit of consensus and prioritize dialogue to resolve conflicts peacefully.

Guterres stated that targeting civilian infrastructure is 'unacceptable', demanding a cessation of hostilities across the Middle East region.

He called for the restoration of all rights and freedoms related to international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb, considering navigational security a vital necessity for global stability.
