A report from the United Nations stated that global hunger rates declined for the third consecutive year in 2025, with improvements recorded across all continents, but increasing risks from climate shocks and trade disruptions may threaten further progress.

The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report, jointly prepared by five UN agencies, indicated that about 645 million people, equivalent to 7.8 percent of the global population, suffered from hunger last year, down from 8.1 percent in 2024 and 8.6 percent in 2022.
