The US State Department announced in a statement the launch of the first pilot zones on Monday in southern Lebanon, as part of the implementation of the framework agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation state.

The department clarified that the first phase of the pilot zones includes the villages of Froun, Sarifa, and Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh in southern Lebanon, noting that they are the first areas from which the Israeli occupation state will withdraw in implementation of the framework agreement.

The statement affirmed that the start of implementing the pilot zones was a direct result of the Rome discussions held between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation state.
