Video Claiming 'Explosion at Iran's Largest Oil Pump' — What's the Truth?
(CNN) – Social media accounts circulated a video clip allegedly showing strikes hitting "Iran's largest oil pump" amid the latest military escalation between the United States and Iran.
The video garnered hundreds of thousands of views and interactions on multiple social platforms, including X, accompanied by a misleading description saying: "A strike on Iran's largest oil pump and reports that NATO countries are participating after they stipulated days ago in Ankara to completely uproot the mullahs' regime."

CNN Arabic's investigation revealed that the video was filmed a month ago and dates back to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities.
Using reverse image search, we found that the footage is linked to the first moments after a Ukrainian drone airstrike that caused a fire at an oil refinery that is the largest fuel supplier to the Moscow region.
A version of the video posted on Facebook on June 16 last month
The video first appeared on June 16 last month, with a copy available on a Facebook page named "In Ukraine."
At that time, CNN published similar footage to that in the video and reported that a massive Ukrainian long-range attack on Russian energy sites had led to explosions at a major oil facility in Moscow after it was targeted by swarms of drones.
CNN geolocated the video of the Ukrainian attack. This coincided with the G7 and NATO meetings in France, where allies discussed ways to strengthen air defense for Kyiv.

The video resurfaced amid the resumption of strikes between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump informed Congress of the resumption of what he called "limited military action" against Iran.
Tehran launched attacks on US allies in the region and announced that it had targeted what it described as "two rogue supertankers." Iran also launched several waves of attacks toward several countries in the region in recent hours.
