Zelensky announces creation of special force in army named 'Rapid Response'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the creation of a new military command within the Ukrainian Armed Forces responsible for managing long-range operations, after signing the decree establishing it, in a step aimed at developing the army's capabilities to confront Russian forces and limit their military potential.
Zelensky, in his evening address, explained that the new command will be assigned to an experienced military officer, without revealing his identity at present, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the efficiency of the armed forces and raising their readiness to meet the requirements of modern warfare.
The Ukrainian president also announced updates to the mechanisms of work within the assault forces, including reorganization of the command system, along with improving service conditions and the level of support provided to servicemen.
As part of military reforms, a separate decision was also approved to form joint rapid response forces, aimed at increasing speed of movement and raising the level of coordination between units on the front lines.
This military formation will include multiple components including assault units, unmanned systems, and artillery units, allowing for a faster response to field developments and changes in the combat situation.
The joint rapid response forces will be commanded by Hero of Ukraine, Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, who currently serves as commander of the 8th Corps of the Air Assault Forces.
The establishment of the new command structures is expected to contribute to enhancing the efficiency of managing the Ukrainian Armed Forces and raising their combat capabilities in line with the requirements of modern warfare.
