The Renault Korea subsidiary of the French automaker Renault and the South Korean transportation service company "Kakao Mobility" signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in developing the next generation of transportation and mobility services, including high-definition digital maps, software, and in-car infotainment systems.

According to the agreement, Renault will collaborate with Kakao Mobility, which offers through its "Kakao T" app a wide range of services including taxi hailing, scooter rental, parking reservation, as well as the "K Ride" service to facilitate tourists' car bookings, to improve high-definition digital map services and develop advanced driver assistance system software and modern in-car infotainment systems.

During the "Next Rise" startup exhibition last month, Renault Korea unveiled a test model of a new car based on the Grand Koleos, equipped with the "Kakao T" app for taxi drivers and an entertainment system for rear-seat passengers, according to the German news agency dpa.

Renault Korea is collaborating with other companies including Kakao Mobility, TMAP Mobility, Smash Labs, and Valoo to develop future mobility technologies and services as part of its innovation strategy.
