5 Tons of Samr Honey in Amlaj at Start of Season
Amlaj Governorate in the Tabuk region witnessed the start of the Samr honey production season, with initial production exceeding 5 tons, as sorting operations continue. Amlaj is one of the main areas for high-quality honey production in the Kingdom, due to the dense spread of Samr trees across its plains and valleys.
Eng. Amjad bin Abdullah Thallab, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the Tabuk region, confirmed that the region enjoys unique natural features that have contributed to the development of beekeeping and honey production. The Ministry supports beekeepers through sustainable rural development programs, such as the Reef Program, aiming to raise production efficiency, improve product quality, and enhance the economic sustainability of this vital sector.
Eng. Amjad bin Abdullah Thallab explained that Amlaj Governorate is witnessing an increase in the number of beekeepers, who have effectively contributed to increasing production volume and improving honey quality. This development is due to the plant diversity and suitable environment provided by the region for beekeeping.
Samr honey has emerged as one of the prominent products for which Amlaj Governorate is known, and it is in high demand due to its high quality and distinctive nutritional properties. This excellence enhances the governorate's position as one of the most prominent natural honey production areas in the Kingdom.
