Beekeepers in Umluj Governorate in the Tabuk region have started the season of producing and sorting Samr honey, which spreads across the plains and valleys of the governorate, considered one of the most important natural pastures for producing high-quality honey.

Umluj Governorate is known for its dense Samr trees, which produce one of the finest types of honey in the Kingdom. The total production of Samr honey has so far exceeded 5 tons, with sorting operations continuing throughout the season.

The Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the Tabuk region, Engineer Amjad bin Abdullah Thallab, explained that the Tabuk region possesses distinctive natural features that have contributed to the development of beekeeping and honey production. He noted that the ministry is working to support beekeepers through sustainable rural development programs, foremost among them the Reef program, which helps raise production efficiency, improve product quality, and enhance economic sustainability for this promising sector.

He affirmed that the governorate has an increasing number of beekeepers who have contributed to raising production volume and improving honey quality, thanks to the region's plant diversity and suitable environment for beekeeping.

Samr honey is one of the most prominent products that Umluj Governorate is famous for, and it enjoys wide demand due to its high quality and distinctive nutritional properties, enhancing the governorate's status as one of the most prominent natural honey production areas in the Kingdom.
