Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah topped the Kingdom's cities in the occupancy rate of hospitality facilities during the first quarter of 2026, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism, recording an occupancy rate of 82%, reflecting the continued growth of the tourism sector in the region.

The Madinah Region Development Authority explained that this growth is supported by the expansion of capacity and increased readiness of hospitality facilities, enhancing the city's position as a leading destination for hospitality and tourism, and supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing the visitor experience and growing the tourism sector.

Data from the Ministry of Tourism indicated that the average daily rate for a hotel room in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah reached 453 riyals, while the revenue per available room reached 372 riyals during the same period, indicators that reflect strong demand and the efficiency of the hospitality system in accommodating the continuous growth in the number of visitors and pilgrims.

Expansion in Hospitality Facilities and Tourism Investments

The Authority confirmed that the number of licensed tourist hospitality facilities in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah rose to 661 by the end of the first quarter of 2026, while the total licensed rooms reached 80,223, constituting about 15% of the total licensed rooms in the Kingdom, reflecting the growth of tourism investments and continued expansion in the hospitality infrastructure in the region.

In the same context, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah continued to achieve competitive results in sector indicators, as it topped the Kingdom in hotel occupancy rate at 84%, and achieved advanced positions in the indicators of average daily rate and revenue per available room, in addition to the outstanding performance of hotel apartments and other facilities, indicating the maturity of the sector and the sustainability of its growth.

Integration of Efforts to Enhance the Status of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah

For its part, the Madinah Region Development Authority affirmed that these indicators reflect the integration of efforts among relevant authorities to develop the tourism sector and enhance the attractiveness of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah as a global destination that receives visitors and pilgrims according to the highest quality standards, contributing to supporting economic development, improving quality of life, and enhancing the city's competitiveness locally and internationally.
