Algeria and Germany Sign 31 Agreements in 11 Sectors

Algeria and Germany on Friday signed 31 agreements and memorandums of understanding in 11 economic and strategic sectors, most notably increasing gas exports, localizing the pharmaceutical industry, and modernizing railways.
This took place during the Algerian-German Economic Forum for Businessmen in the capital Berlin, on the third day of the visit by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Germany, according to the official Algerian News Agency.
The agreements spanned the sectors of energy, industry, pharmaceuticals, transport, railways, renewable energies, tourism, battery manufacturing, industrial technology, biotechnology, oil industries, and veterinary medicine.
In the energy sector, Algerian company Sonatrach signed a memorandum of understanding with German company VNG to start negotiations on renewing the gas export contract and increasing quantities destined for the German market.
Additionally, X-Wor signed two commercial agreements with Field Equipment & Services and BSE Engineering to supply equipment and engineering technologies to the oil and gas sector in the Algerian and African markets.
In the industrial sector, Opel and the Algerian Halleb Group signed a memorandum of understanding to explore investment and cooperation opportunities.
Open Desk also signed a memorandum of understanding with Equinix Solutions Deutschland to establish a partnership in engineering and industrial technology.
Assor/Assend signed a partnership agreement with Volks Lift to create a joint venture for local elevator production, while Surfatec signed an agreement with Dieffenbacher Maschinenfabrik to supply an automated lamination line and equipment for producing melamine boards.
In the pharmaceutical industry, the Saidal Group and Boehringer Ingelheim signed two memorandums of understanding for local manufacturing of four drug molecules dedicated to treating diabetes, heart failure, and kidney diseases, and developing cooperation in research and development.
Vet Agri Pharma also signed an agreement with Equinix Solutions Deutschland to establish a unit for veterinary medicine production.
Frater Razis Laboratories signed a partnership agreement with Groninger, aiming to enhance manufacturing capabilities in biotechnology.
In the transport sector, Siemens Mobility signed five memorandums of understanding with the Algerian National Railway Transport Company and the Algiers Metro Company to enhance cooperation in railways, urban transport, and technology transfer.
Setal also signed an agreement protocol with Eisenbart to supply electronic components dedicated to repairing tramway equipment.
In the field of renewable energies, the International Company for Solar Renewable Energies signed an agreement with RCT Solutions to prepare engineering studies and supervise the construction of a plant for producing metallic silicon used in metallurgical industries and solar energy.
In the tourism sector, the Boussouf Fatih Group signed an agreement with Fleming Hotels to manage a tourist resort in the city of Touggourt and grant it a concession for operation, with a capacity of 600 beds.
In the battery industry, Friction Tech and Moll Batterien signed an appendix to their partnership agreement concluded in 2023 to expand cooperation in technology transfer.
The two parties also signed a commercial agreement to export batteries manufactured in Algeria under license from the Moll brand.
The forum also witnessed the signing of a non-disclosure agreement by Madar Group with Corber Technologies to protect confidential information exchanged within the Algerian Tobacco Company project.
The group also signed a cooperation agreement with Focke & Co to assess the company's needs for cigarette packaging equipment and explore industrial and commercial cooperation opportunities.
The forum comes as part of Tebboune's official visit to Germany, aimed at strengthening economic and investment partnership between the two countries.
