Unification of Company Registration Mechanism and Commercial Registry Secretariats in Syria
Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar issued a directive to unify the working mechanism across all company departments and commercial registry secretariats in Syrian governorates, aiming to simplify incorporation and registration procedures.
According to the directive, company departments and commercial registry secretariats are required to register the company, issue incorporation and registration decisions, and grant the commercial registry for the first time immediately upon submission of basic documents, and not to suspend the commercial registry based on financial transactions.
Approvals and Licenses
The directive also stressed not to suspend granting the commercial registry on the approvals and licenses necessary for practicing commercial activity, except for activities related to the Ministries of Interior, Defense, and Energy, in addition to activities subject to oversight and supervision of relevant regulatory and custodial bodies, including banks, exchange bureaus, money transfers, insurance, insurance brokerage, medical expenses, real estate development, real estate valuation, real estate financing, and protection and security, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Renewal Grace Period
The directive stipulated granting stakeholders a grace period until the renewal of the commercial registry to complete all procedures at the Ministry of Finance and its affiliated entities or any other government entity, with the burden of following up on these procedures falling on the concerned ministry.
The General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Industry launched, during the current month, a service for establishing companies of various types through the directorate's electronic portal, as part of implementing the digital transformation program and automation of government work.
