Ferran Torres celebrated his historic goal against Argentina, giving Spain their second World Cup title, repeating Andrés Iniesta's achievement from 16 years ago.

Substitute Ferran scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, after a long struggle for Spain, even though the match was one-sided in their favor at New York New Jersey Stadium.

The Barcelona striker said: 'It's not just my goal, it's the goal of 47 million people. It was destiny written for victory.'

He added: 'All finals are tough. When you face Messi as a rival, it causes nervousness, but we played better football.'

On his feelings after becoming a hero for Spain: 'I felt incredibly liberated. I faced a lot of criticism during the World Cup. I thank God for giving me the strength to continue. He rewards those who deserve it most.'
