Investment Meeting at Abha Chamber Reviews Asir Municipality Targets for Privatization, Investment, and Service Quality

The Abha Chamber of Commerce hosted an investment meeting that brought together His Excellency the Mayor of Asir Region, Engineer Abdullah Al-Jali, and municipality deputies with a number of private sector investors in the region, as part of enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors, raising the efficiency of the investment environment, and reviewing opportunities and development projects, and the Asir Region Development Strategy "Qimam wa Shimam."
In his speech during the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abha Chamber, Shakir Saeed bin Owaier, affirmed that this meeting aims to overcome various challenges that may hinder the growth of investments, noting that the Asir Region is witnessing exceptional developmental momentum that multiplies the responsibility of all entities to raise service quality and develop regulatory procedures.
For his part, His Excellency the Mayor of Asir Region, Engineer Abdullah Al-Jali, emphasized the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between the municipality and the business sector, stating that this cooperation aims to draw a joint work map that contributes to achieving comprehensive development targets and providing a more efficient and attractive investment environment.
In his statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Lands at Asir Municipality, Dr. Fouad Abdulaziz Asiri, pointed out that the most prominent trends that the municipality is working on, in cooperation with several entities, are promoting the concept of "humanization" and demonstrating its positive impact on the environment and reducing energy consumption rates, in addition to its role in enhancing economic activity, especially for small and medium business owners, stressing that the success of any project depends on integration with the private sector and the local community.
The meeting featured visual presentations by municipality deputies, highlighting the key performance indicators and achievements of the municipality. Municipal revenues exceeded 1.26 billion riyals during 2025, with the average license issuance period reduced to 2.35 days, the beneficiary satisfaction rate raised to 91%, and a regulatory compliance rate of 97% achieved.
The presentation also covered the privatization program targets for the period 2027-2030, which include privatizing parking services, park management, road and street development, waste management and collection, warehouse operation and maintenance, and the installation and maintenance of lighting poles.
On the investment side, the municipality reviewed investment indicators for seasonal events, with official statistics indicating an increase in the average visitor stay to 8 nights, full occupancy of the region's hotels during the summer season of 2025, and a rise in average tourism spending to 10.6 billion riyals, reflecting the growing status of Asir as a year-round tourist and investment destination.
The meeting also included specialized introductory presentations by municipality officials, covering a package of services, licenses, and digital platforms aimed at facilitating the investor's journey, raising the efficiency of municipal services, and enhancing speed of completion and quality of performance.
The meeting concluded with an extensive discussion session with businessmen and businesswomen, during which the most prominent challenges facing the private sector were raised, and solutions and initiatives to enhance the investment environment and support comprehensive development targets were discussed, driving the local economy and helping to establish Asir region as a leading destination for investment and sustainable development.
