Award of 661,000 Tons of Wheat to 6 Global Companies to Boost Kingdom's Strategic Reserves
The General Authority for Food Security has completed the procedures for awarding the fourth batch of imported wheat for this year (2026) with a quantity of (661,000) tons to be sourced from origins (the European Union, North and South America, Australia, and the Black Sea).
His Excellency the Chairman of the Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Faris, stated today that contracting for this batch comes within the framework of enhancing the strategic wheat reserve, maintaining it at safe levels, and meeting all the needs of milling companies.
He added that branches of the National Grains Supplies Company (SABL) will receive the contracted quantities for the fourth batch, scheduled to arrive during the period (September - October 2026) in 11 ships, distributed as follows: 4 ships to Jeddah Islamic Port with 244,000 tons, 6 ships to Yanbu Commercial Port with 362,000 tons, and 1 ship to Jazan Port with 55,000 tons. Fourteen qualified international companies specializing in grain trading competed for the required quantity, and the award was made to 6 companies whose offers were the lowest price and conforming to specifications.
