Red Sea Gateway International Terminal Injects $170 Million Investment in Bangladesh Port
Red Sea Gateway International Terminal, a company of the Sisco portfolio, launched a container terminal at Chittagong Port in Bangladesh with an investment of $170 million, the first international concession to manage and operate a port in the country's history.
The project is part of a 22-year concession contract that the company won in 2023.
The company said it increased the terminal's capacity from 250,000 to 600,000 containers annually by supplying four modern ship-to-shore cranes and upgrading handling equipment, boosting productivity by about 30% compared to regional terminals.
Red Sea Gateway International Terminal added that the project strengthens its presence in global port operating markets, while it is considering an additional investment of up to $1 billion in the Bangladeshi maritime sector as part of its plans to expand in emerging markets and support infrastructure and logistics services.
