The price of gold rose today to its highest level in two weeks, supported by technical buying, as investors await the Federal Reserve (the U.S. central bank) meeting next week for indications on interest rate expectations. Gold prices in spot transactions increased by 0.9% to $4,113.73 per ounce, after reaching their highest level since July 10. U.S. gold futures for August delivery jumped 1.1% to $4,119.1. As for other precious metals, silver prices in spot transactions rose by 1.8% to $59.82 per ounce, platinum prices increased by 1.6% to $1,655.61, and palladium prices went up by 1.6% to $1,302.25.
