Cabinet Approves Using Model Year Instead of Manufacturing Year for Imported Heavy Trucks

A side of the Cabinet meeting

During its session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Cabinet approved an amendment to item (First) of its resolution No. (199) dated 4/4/1443 AH, regarding the maximum model year limit for heavy transport trucks allowed to be imported into the Kingdom.

According to the decision, the model year will be used instead of the manufacturing year when applying the maximum model year limit for all heavy transport trucks dedicated to transporting goods (tractors, trailers, and semi-trailers) with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tons imported into the Kingdom, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Interior (General Directorate of Traffic). It is noted that the Cabinet had approved in November 2021 the General Transport Authority's reduction of the maximum model year limit for all imported heavy transport trucks dedicated to transporting goods from 10 years to 5 years from the manufacturing year.
