Dollar Rises Supported by Higher Oil Prices and Bond Yields

The dollar received support from rising oil prices and higher US Treasury yields today, maintaining its highest level in 40 years against the Japanese yen, which settled at 163.80 yen per dollar. The dollar remained near a three-week high against a basket of currencies at 101.41. The British pound stabilized at a three-week low of $1.3310 in Asian trading, after falling nearly 0.5% in the previous session against the dollar. The euro also suffered losses, trading at $1.1381.
