Buraidah, Safar 08, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 22, 2026, SPA – His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Buraidah International Date Festival for the 1448 AH season, to follow up on early preparations for the season, approve the festival’s main directions, and review executive plans and development initiatives that contribute to enhancing its position as the largest date festival in the world and maximizing its economic, tourism, and cultural impact. The committee reviewed updates on the development of the festival’s sites and programs, along with qualitative initiatives aimed at expanding its presence locally and internationally, most notably enhancing the visual identity in vital locations and public spaces, activating partnerships with relevant entities, and attracting personalities, ambassadors, investors, and specialized delegations, thereby highlighting the festival in the media and strengthening its regional and international presence, in addition to developing the digital seasonal markets platform to raise the efficiency of commercial operations, facilitate buying and selling, protect the rights of all parties, and enhance the competitiveness of the date sector. The committee was briefed on the targets of the media and marketing plan for the season and mechanisms to improve the quality of services provided to visitors and participants. The meeting addressed updates on the development of the seasonal markets platform, which has contributed to regulating the movement of date trading and raising the efficiency of commercial operations, as the number of registered farms exceeded 5,660 farms, the number of shoppers reached 5,860 shoppers, more than 556,130 transactions were executed, and over 3,361 contracts were concluded, enhancing transaction reliability and protecting the rights of all parties. The meeting discussed initiatives to expand the festival’s local and international presence by enhancing visual identity at airports, train stations, and shopping malls, and attracting influential figures, ambassadors, investors, and specialized delegations, thereby highlighting the festival in the media and strengthening its position as a leading international platform in the palm and date sector.
