A number of Saudi and Emirati officials published positive messages on Tuesday about relations between the two countries, via platform X, in which they pointed to the strength of ties between the two countries and peoples.

The series of statements began with a post by Advisor Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, which included a photo he said was taken days ago of Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Minister of Defense, with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, and he commented: "Saudi Arabia and the UAE: a story of brotherly relations and an established partnership."

The role of media

Regarding media officials in the two countries, Salman Al-Dosari, Saudi Minister of Information, issued a statement saying: "The relationship between the Kingdom and the UAE is one of two peoples united by a shared history and heritage, and wise leadership in both countries that guides the two peoples according to promising developmental visions. The role of responsible media is to confront anyone who tries to convey a misleading picture about the relations between the two countries and to ensure accuracy in what is published about them."

Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office in the UAE, wrote: "UAE-Saudi relations are an extension of a shared history and established brotherly ties between two fraternal peoples united by a common destiny. They are strengthened by wise leadership in both countries that moves forward with close coordination and a clear vision towards a future that brings good for our peoples and our region. The role of responsible media is to reflect this reality objectively and confront any attempts to undermine it."

As for Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, he commented on the photo of Prince Khalid bin Salman and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed with the famous traditional verse: "Spears refuse to break when gathered together, but when separated, they break one by one."

Between politics and economics

Relations between Saudi Arabia and the UAE had seen differences over regional files, foremost among them Yemen, late last year, but communications and coordination between the two countries continued at the highest levels during the war with Iran, which witnessed Tehran launching a wave of extensive attacks on Arab Gulf states, targeting their infrastructure and the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The economy also occupies a prominent place in the relations between the two countries, as many institutions, including banks and multinational companies, operate extensively in both countries. Total trade between Saudi Arabia and the UAE rose to $25.7 billion in 2025, compared to $21.7 billion in 2024, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The UAE adopted a different path in the energy file, as it announced in April its exit from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the OPEC+ group led by Saudi Arabia and Russia.
