(CNN)-- An energy expert said Monday that global oil supplies will continue to face disruptions as long as battles continue and as long as energy facilities in the Gulf remain damaged.

Iran has repeatedly targeted energy facilities in the Gulf region, including launching two consecutive attacks on a Kuwaiti power and desalination plant over the weekend, according to Kuwait's energy minister.

Amina Bakr, head of Middle East and OPEC+ data at Kepler analytics, told CNN: "Many countries in the region want to return to normal production levels and repair all the damage caused to energy facilities."

She added: "When we talk about recovery, it's not just about the ships stuck in the Gulf that we saw at the beginning when the memorandum of understanding was signed."

She continued: "It's also about repairing the facilities damaged during the war. The longer we wait, the longer the disruption in supplies."
