Foreign Investors Purchased $1.6 Billion in Tadawul During Q2
The American news site Semafor reported today that foreign investors pumped $1.6 billion into the Saudi stock exchange during the second quarter of 2026, making the Saudi financial market the only Gulf stock exchange to record an increase in net foreign purchases, according to a report by Kamco Invest, which specializes in the latest business activity reports.
Market Opening
Semafor explained that this interest from foreign investors stems from Saudi Arabia's decision to open its financial market to all external investors as of February 1, 2026, which led to a 75% increase in their purchases during the first half of 2026. It noted that the Tadawul stock exchange could see an even greater influx of foreign investor purchases if the relevant authorities fulfill their promise to remove restrictions on foreign ownership, which currently stands at a maximum of 45%.
Semafor pointed out that the performance of the Saudi stock market reflects the reality that Saudi Arabia has navigated the repercussions of the war between the United States and Iran better than other Gulf Arab countries. It is expected that the Saudi economy will witness growth for the remainder of 2026.
