Mourinho Refuses to 'Purge' Real Madrid
José Mourinho, the head coach of Real Madrid, and his coaching staff begin the team's pre-season camp for the new 2026-2027 season on Monday.
The first training sessions will be limited to players who did not participate in the World Cup and some youngsters, before the rest of the squad joins later.
Spanish newspaper MARCA revealed on Monday the plans of the veteran coach for the team that has been away from title platforms in the last two seasons.
The Portuguese's first task will be to "change the daily work culture within the club." Mourinho believes that Real Madrid will not achieve success "unless every individual in the club maintains the same daily commitment and the same competitive passion."
The Spanish newspaper added: "The Portuguese coach does not arrive with the intention of starting a revolution in Valdebebas. His inner circle is already defined, but the plan is not to dismantle the existing structure. On the contrary, he wants to rely on the professionals working in the club and involve them in the project."
Quoting sources close to him, the paper said: "He will not arrive at the club to carry out a purge. There is no intention to create enmity, alienate, or expel anyone. He wants to benefit from everyone."
The sources added: "Mourinho wants to create a positive atmosphere among everyone, and for them to realize that each individual has an important role in achieving the team's goals."
