Municipalities and Housing: Issuance and Renewal of Over 274,000 Commercial Licenses
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the issuance and renewal of more than 274,000 commercial licenses during the first half of 2026, reflecting the vitality of economic activity and the continued growth of businesses in various cities and governorates of the Kingdom. The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Mohamed bin Abdullah Al-Rasasma, explained that the licenses included the issuance of more than 97,000 new commercial licenses and the renewal of over 177,000 licenses, an indicator reflecting the continuity of commercial activities and the enhancement of the business environment, enabling commercial enterprises to continue their operations through simplified digital procedures. He stated that the services provided during the same period included the implementation of more than 91,000 modifications to commercial licenses, more than 43,000 processes for adding commercial activities, in addition to more than 39,000 processes for transferring license ownership, as part of the diversity of services provided by the ministry to meet the needs of the business sector. He affirmed that these results are an extension of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop the municipal licensing system, simplify procedures, and raise the efficiency of digital services, with the aim of accelerating transaction processing and improving the experience of investors and business owners, noting that the “Baladi” platform is one of the most prominent digital enablers supporting the municipal sector and contributing to providing integrated services to beneficiaries. Al-Rasasma pointed out that the continued growth in the number of commercial licenses reflects the attractiveness of the investment environment in Saudi cities and the effectiveness of the initiatives implemented by the ministry to enable the private sector, stimulate commercial activities, and promote sustainable economic development, ultimately achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, calling on business owners to benefit from the electronic services provided by the “Baladi” platform to ensure the continuity of their business activities and benefit from the services with ease and convenience.
