An English club is targeting a deal with Imam Ashour, the Egypt national team player, during the summer transfer window.

Media figure Hani Hathout said on Modern Mti channel on Saturday evening that negotiations have already begun between English side Ipswich Town and Al Ahly to sign Imam Ashour.

He added that a representative of the English club made an initial offer to Al Ahly worth 5 million pounds sterling (approximately 333 million Egyptian pounds) to secure the services of the Egypt national team midfielder star in the 2026 World Cup.

Imam Ashour opened Egypt's scoring in the World Cup against Belgium, and also scored against Australia in the Round of 32, and performed well against Argentina in the Round of 16, but he left injured at half-time.

Ipswich Town returned to the English Premier League and will play with the top teams in the 2026-2027 season, but they are accustomed to quickly returning to the second division.

Reports indicated that several European clubs are interested in signing Ashour, including Celtic and West Ham United.
