Oil prices jumped more than three percent in early Asian trade and Brent crude exceeded $90 a barrel, as tensions between the United States and Iran in the Middle East escalated, disrupting energy shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Brent crude futures jumped $2.75, or 3.12 percent, to $90.85 per barrel by 2202 GMT. West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained $2.56, or 3.10 percent, to $85.05 per barrel, according to Reuters data.
