Participants in a massive popular march in the Yemeni city of Taiz on Thursday expressed support for a government move to resume the country's oil exports, and for decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council aimed at protecting the country's sovereignty.

The Yemeni government had announced on Wednesday the actual start of resuming oil exports, for the first time in about four years, when it stopped due to the repercussions of attacks by the armed Houthi group.

The participants in the popular march supported the government measures regarding the resumption of oil exports, considering it a responsible national decision aimed at restoring the state's sovereign resources and enabling it to pay salaries, improve services, and support the national economy.

Participants in the march raised banners carrying the flags of Saudi Arabia and Yemen side by side.

Taiz governorate, which has been under a continuous siege for about 10 years, resulting in deaths and injuries, its residents participating in the march also condemned what they described as Iranian regime interference in Yemeni affairs and its 'political and military' support for the Houthi group.

The Houthis had also threatened to disrupt navigation in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which is an alternative route for exports to and from Asia due to the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following the resumption of military escalation between Iran and the United States.

The participants in the march issued a statement calling for unifying national ranks and rallying around the state project, its political leadership, armed forces, and security agencies.
