Riyadh Air enhances options to purchase additional aircraft from Airbus and Boeing

Riyadh Air has two aircraft.

These deals come as part of the Kingdom's efforts to boost the aviation sector in line with Vision 2030.

Riyadh Air, a company of the Public Investment Fund, today announced the activation of purchase rights for six additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, raising its total firm orders for this model to 31 aircraft.

The company explained in its statement that Riyadh Air ordered 60 Airbus A321 aircraft, raising its order tally from Airbus to 91 aircraft. The company also retains purchase rights for 19 additional A350 aircraft, giving it flexibility to execute its expansion plans.

It indicated that the Airbus A350-1000 will be a cornerstone of Riyadh Air's long-haul operations, enabling the carrier to connect Riyadh with key destinations in Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and beyond, while offering an exceptional travel experience for guests through the latest cabin technology, higher levels of comfort, and advanced environmental performance. In a separate statement, the company and Boeing confirmed the activation of its remaining options to purchase Boeing 787 aircraft, along with expanding its fleet by adding Boeing 787-10 aircraft. It added that under the agreement, Riyadh Air will receive 28 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, including the conversion of 20 aircraft from previous options to the larger Boeing 787-10, bringing its total firm orders for this model to 67 Dreamliner aircraft. It stated that this expansion of the Boeing order will support its plans to expand its global network by providing the operational range and capacity needed to achieve its goal of connecting Riyadh to more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030. It continues to build a modern fleet that combines operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. It expects that the aircraft will increase the carrier's capacity by 50 additional seats compared to the 787-9 model, as well as reduce fuel consumption and harmful emissions by 25% compared to other aircraft.
