The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, approved the State Revenue System during its session held today in Jeddah.

Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan affirmed in a statement that the adoption of the system represents an important step toward developing governance of government revenues and enhancing their management efficiency to support financial sustainability.

He pointed out that the system contributes to enabling government entities to improve revenue estimation mechanisms, raise the level of compliance in paying dues, and regulate collection procedures and handling of government debts, achieving a balance between collection efficiency and consideration of taxpayers' circumstances.

The system's update comes within the framework of developing the financial system in the Kingdom, enhancing the efficiency of government revenue management, and establishing principles of governance and transparency, keeping pace with the economic and administrative transformations the Kingdom is undergoing, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.

The system contributes to organizing the management of government revenues by defining roles and responsibilities among relevant entities, and developing revenue estimation mechanisms for the medium and long term, supporting financial planning and increasing the reliability of estimates.

It also includes procedures for handling the collection of government dues, and regulating payment and installment mechanisms according to specific controls, enhancing financial discipline and supporting efficient management of the state's financial resources.

Returning to the Cabinet, the Crown Prince was briefed on the content of a phone call he received from U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they reviewed areas of cooperation between the two countries and a number of regional and international issues, and affirmed support for everything that contributes to achieving the region's security and stability.

The Cabinet was informed of the results of his discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, which emphasized the keenness to consolidate and develop bilateral relations on various levels, reaching a future characterized by deeper joint cooperation, supported by mutual trust, close friendship, and the goals emanating from Saudi Vision 2030 and Canada's growth agenda to build a stronger and more resilient economy for both countries.

The Cabinet condemned the repeated Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and on Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and Jordan, affirming complete rejection of Iran's continued behavior that destabilizes regional security and its violations of the principles of international law, the UN and OIC charters, and the rules of good neighborliness.

The Cabinet expressed its welcome of the contents of the meeting held in Riyadh between the Saudi and Iraqi sides, which included Iraq's affirmations of its commitment not to allow the use of its land and airspace as a launch point for any actions or attacks targeting the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and regional countries, in addition to agreeing to continue bilateral coordination to serve common interests.

The Cabinet welcomed the announcement by the United States to begin procedures to repeal the 'Law Designating the Syrian Arab Republic as a State Sponsor of Terrorism,' which was enacted in 1979, reaffirming Saudi Arabia's support for the positive steps taken by the Syrian government to enhance security and stability, build state institutions, and achieve the aspirations of its people.
