The Saudi Ministry of Health denied the validity of the announcement circulated on social media platforms regarding a project named 'Asia Medical City' in Jeddah Governorate, stressing that the project has not obtained any official approvals or licenses, and does not have any legal status authorizing it to announce the establishment or operation of a health facility in the Kingdom.
The ministry said in a statement that what was reported in a circulated video contains incorrect information and claims, emphasizing that the announcement of any health project or provision of medical services is subject to regulatory procedures and official licensing in accordance with approved rules and regulations.
A circulated video had mentioned a plan to establish 'Asia Medical City' on an area of 10 million square meters outside Jeddah Governorate, on the Madinah Road, with the participation of 50 Asian countries, led by a Saudi doctor and a former director of one of the Ministry of Health hospitals.
The announcement claimed that the project aims to create an integrated medical city comprising health facilities and services, enhancing Jeddah's position as a regional center for healthcare and investment.
Summons of former hospital director
The Ministry of Health confirmed that the person appearing in the video is a doctor and former director of one of the ministry's hospitals, noting that he has been summoned to complete legal procedures against him in accordance with relevant regulations.
It also denied the validity of what was reported regarding the participation of 50 Asian countries in the project, and refuted the circulated information about health regulations and procedures for organizing alternative medicine services, affirming that it is incorrect information and does not conform to the regulations and rules in force in the Kingdom.
The ministry reiterated its call to verify accuracy and obtain information from its official sources, and not to be swayed by unregulated announcements or claims, stressing its continued application of regulations governing the health sector to ensure community safety and compliance with regulatory requirements for health facilities and services.
