Saudi Investment Bank's net profit rose 3.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of this year to SAR 531 million, compared to a profit of SAR 512.5 million in the same quarter of the previous year.

The bank clarified in a statement on 'Tadawul' on Thursday that the growth in total operating income of 3.4% was driven by an increase in unrealized fair value gains through the income statement, foreign currency conversion fees, gains from disposal of debt securities at fair value through other comprehensive income, and banking service fees.

Meanwhile, limiting the increase in net income was a 2.3% rise in total operating expenses, resulting from higher salaries and employee expenses, credit loss and other loss provisions, and rent and building expenses, partially offset by a decrease in other general and administrative expenses and depreciation and amortization.

Net special commission income decreased marginally by 0.7%, pressured by a 22.2% drop in finance commission income to SAR 567 million, despite an 89% increase in investment commission income to SAR 331 million, mainly due to an increase in total special commission expenses.
