The business sector bulletin issued by the Ministry of Commerce showed that economic activities in the tourism sector continue to grow in the number of commercial registrations.

It explained that the growth was supported by efforts to enhance the status of cities as tourist destinations and attractive spots, which helps stimulate commercial activity in cities, governorates, and villages.

This positively reflects on commercial establishments and small and medium enterprises, as a result of increased spending in these areas.

Resort registrations growth The number of existing commercial registrations in resort activities rose by 43% in the second quarter of 2026, to 16,147 registrations, compared to 11,240 in the same quarter last year. Travel tour organization registrations grew by 33% in the second quarter of this year, reaching 12,264 registrations, compared to 9,161 in the same quarter of 2025. Existing registrations for tourist guide activities increased by 38% in the second quarter to 7,963 registrations, compared to 5,769 in the same quarter last year. Travel and tourism agency registrations grew by 32% to 17,536 registrations, compared to 13,225 in the comparative period.

Museum sector The bulletin revealed that existing registrations in the museum sector grew in the second quarter of this year by 29% to 3,035 registrations, compared to 2,338 in the same quarter last year. Riyadh topped the regions in the number of museum sector registrations with 1,351 registrations, followed by Makkah with 871, the Eastern Province with 308, and Medina and Asir with 153 and 119 registrations, respectively.

Hotel registrations Existing commercial registrations in the hotel sector rose by 38% by the end of the second quarter, to 26,801 registrations, compared to 19,380 in the same quarter last year.

Makkah came in first with 10,826 registrations, Riyadh with 8,731, Medina with 2,566, and the Eastern Province and Asir with 1,959 and 788 registrations, respectively.
