US Jobless Claims Drop to 10-Week Low

The number of applications for unemployment benefits in the United States fell to a 10-week low in the week ending July 11, indicating the labor market remains stable despite economic challenges.

Claims were expected to come in at 216,000, unchanged from the previous week's data which was revised upward by 1,000 to 216,000, according to the Labor Department report released Thursday.

Weekly jobless claims are a rough indicator of layoff rates in the United States and provide a nearly real-time signal on labor market conditions.
