The Gulf Food Security Standing Committee in Riyadh reviewed the mechanisms for monitoring and analyzing supply chain indicators at the Saudi Early Warning Center, to enhance the readiness of the regional system and address changes.

This came on the sidelines of the committee's extraordinary meeting hosted by the General Authority for Food Security in the capital Riyadh, with Saudi Arabia chairing the meeting dedicated to discussing mechanisms for implementing Gulf food security strategy initiatives.

Joint Strategy

The attendees discussed the progress of the joint Gulf strategy, focusing on reviewing the approved performance indicators to ensure implementation efficiency. The participants stated that the current action plans aim to consolidate the food security system in the region.

Strategic Hedging

During their visit to the Early Warning Center, representatives of member states learned about the center's operational role in tracking food routes. This precise monitoring aims to raise the level of strategic hedging against any fluctuations that may affect food abundance. The meeting saw the participation of the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, along with representatives of all member states: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.

This move comes within the council states' efforts to unify efforts to meet sustainable development goals.
