Madinah, 05 Safar 1448 AH corresponding to 19 July 2026 SPA - The Prince Mohammed bin Salman International Center for Arabic Calligraphy "Dar Al-Qalam" in Madinah offers an integrated educational and training system aimed at developing skills in Arabic calligraphy arts, preparing specialized competencies, nurturing talents, and preserving the artistic heritage of Arabic calligraphy through educational programs that combine authenticity and modernity, contributing to enhancing the presence of Arabic calligraphy locally and internationally. The specialized center provides a series of short training courses that serve as a main gateway to learning Arabic calligraphy arts, covering the introduction of prominent Arabic scripts, studying their aesthetic characteristics, and practical training on writing them according to approved artistic rules, alongside developing basic skills in using calligraphy tools, adjusting proportions, and mastering letter shapes and their connections. The courses contribute to discovering talented individuals, refining their abilities, and guiding them towards advanced educational and training programs offered by the center, thereby fostering a generation of qualified calligraphers and acquainting them with the status of Arabic calligraphy education, its stages of origin, and the evolution of its arts. The courses are available to those interested in Arabic calligraphy arts from within the Kingdom and abroad, and have witnessed a wide turnout, with the number of registered trainees exceeding (6,000) from various countries around the world, while more than (500) trainees, both Saudi and non-Saudi, representing a number of Gulf Arab states, Arab countries, and other countries, have benefited from them, reflecting the international status of the center and its role in spreading the culture of Arabic calligraphy. The center also offers the educational program "The Weekly Lesson," which is based on an authentic educational methodology followed by master calligraphers throughout the ages; it aims to establish regular practice of handwriting and enhance the gradual development of trainees' skills through continuous training and periodic evaluation. The program relies on assigning the trainee a weekly writing exercise executed according to specific artistic standards, contributing to consolidating the rules of Arabic calligraphy, developing pen control skills, achieving balance and harmony between letters and words, and improving the quality of written performance. The exercise topics are derived from Quranic verses, prophetic hadiths, wisdom and sayings, along with national and educational phrases that contribute to diversifying calligraphic compositions and enriching the educational experience.
