The Prince Mohammed bin Salman International Center for Arabic Calligraphy 'Dar Al Qalam' in Medina continues to provide a comprehensive educational and training system aimed at developing skills in Arabic calligraphy arts, preparing specialized competencies, nurturing talent, and preserving the artistic heritage of this authentic art through programs that blend tradition and modernity.

The center offers a set of short training courses as a main entry point for learning Arabic calligraphy arts, including introducing the most prominent Arabic scripts and studying their aesthetic characteristics, practical training on writing them according to approved artistic rules, in addition to developing skills in using calligraphy tools, controlling proportions, and mastering letter shapes and connections.

These courses contribute to discovering talented individuals, honing their abilities, and guiding them toward the advanced educational and training programs offered by the center, thereby enhancing the preparation of a generation of qualified calligraphers and acquainting them with the stages of the emergence of Arabic calligraphy and the evolution of its arts throughout history.

The courses are available to those interested in Arabic calligraphy arts from within the Kingdom and abroad, and have witnessed great demand, as the number of registrants exceeded 6,000 trainees from various countries around the world, while more than 500 trainees, both Saudi and non-Saudi, representing Gulf Arab states, Arab countries, and others, have benefited from them, reflecting the international standing of the center.

The center also offers the 'Weekly Lesson' program, based on an authentic educational methodology practiced by master calligraphers through the ages, and aims to establish regular practice of handwriting and promote the gradual development of trainees' skills through continuous training and periodic evaluation.

The program is based on assigning the trainee a weekly writing exercise according to specific artistic criteria, with topics derived from Quranic verses, prophetic hadiths, proverbs, and sayings, in addition to national and educational phrases that diversify calligraphic compositions and enrich the educational experience, thereby contributing to the development of aesthetic sense, accuracy, and discipline in applying the rules of Arabic calligraphy.
