Zendaya dons Saudi couture label Ashi Studio at Spider-Man fan event
Hollywood star Zendaya stepped out in a midnight-black gown from Saudi label Ashi Studio at a 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' fan event in Mexico City, highlighting the label's growing international appeal.
This week, Saudi couture house Ashi Studio gained international attention after Hollywood actress Zendaya chose one of its designs for a 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' fan event in Mexico City.
Saudi couture label Ashi Studio, known for its dramatic evening wear, has been a red-carpet favorite among Hollywood stars.
Zendaya, who portrays MJ in the Spider-Man series, wore a midnight-black floor-length gown from Ashi Studio's spring/summer 2026 couture collection, "The Beginnings." The dress (Look 26) featured a form-fitting silhouette on one side and a sheer panel on the other, with intricate web-like knit detailing that subtly referenced her on-screen love interest.
Antique-treated threads, glass tassels and beaded fringe cascaded from the sleeves and down the back to the floor, while one side was finished with intricate embroidery.
The gothic mood was enhanced by Zendaya’s hair, which she wore in a voluminous updo with her bangs down.
The Mexico City stop was part of the global promotion for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise in which Zendaya again appears opposite partner Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker.
The film, helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, takes place four years after "Spider-Man: No Way Home," where Peter Parker erased himself from everyone's memory. The sequel finds him living in isolation, fighting crime as a forgotten Spider-Man while his former friends move on, until an invisible new menace compels his return.
Alongside Holland and Zendaya, the cast includes Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Mando. The film is due in Saudi theaters on July 29.
This appearance adds to Ashi Studio's growing list of high-profile red-carpet moments. Founded by Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi, the brand is a celebrated couture house that has shown at Paris Haute Couture Week. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Ashi Studio has attracted international celebrities with its dramatic and sculptural designs.
“The Beginnings” collection draws on the Victorian era, using 18th-century corsetry techniques to cinch the waist and create structured, feminine silhouettes, along with fabrics that were distressed and burned during construction.
Ashi Studio's recognition on a global platform underscores the increasing influence of Saudi fashion designers in the international couture scene. The label's 20th anniversary this year marks a significant milestone, and its continued presence at Paris Haute Couture Week solidifies its reputation. Zendaya's choice of a web-inspired gown that subtly ties into her Spider-Man role also demonstrates the synergy between fashion and film marketing. The film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is set for release in Saudi Arabia on July 29, and such high-profile appearances boost anticipation.
