The Theater and Performing Arts Authority concluded the play production workshop in Riyadh today (Thursday), thus concluding 20 in-person training workshops held in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, with the participation of more than 452 trainees.

The workshops aimed to develop participants' skills in theater work specializations.

This is part of the fourth edition of the training program 'From Idea to Stage' which launched last April and continues until August 25, aiming to develop the skills of practitioners and those interested in theater and empower national talents in various theater fields.

The training workshops varied between 6 workshops for children and adolescents and 14 workshops for adults, totaling 925 training hours implemented over 185 days, as part of an integrated training program that combines theoretical and practical aspects, and aims to develop the artistic and technical skills of participants in various theater work specializations.

The workshops covered a number of specialized tracks in theatrical arts, including playwriting, acting and theatrical performance, directing, stage management, creative drama, costume and set design, lighting and sound, in addition to children and adolescent workshops that included theatrical acting, musical theater, and the art of juggling, as well as specialized workshops in scenography and play production, reflecting the diversity of training tracks offered by the program to cover all elements of theatrical production artistically, technically, and creatively.

Over the past three months, the program also witnessed closing ceremonies for a number of training workshops, during which participants presented performances and applied projects that embodied the skills and knowledge they acquired during the training period, in a practical experience that reflected their transition from the learning stage to application on stage, and contributed to highlighting the program's outputs in the fields of performance, directing, theatrical expression, and visual design.

The Theater and Performing Arts Authority continues to offer training workshops until next August 25, through a set of specialized virtual workshops covering the areas of theater troupe management, investment in theater, theater criticism, and from novel to script.

It also organizes advanced workshops in directing that address experimentation and integrating technology into live performances, collaboration techniques for creating collective works and classical texts, in addition to dramaturgy and scenography workshops, among others, contributing to enriching theatrical knowledge and enhancing the applied skills of participants in various fields of performing arts.

The 'From Idea to Stage' program is part of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority's efforts to develop a specialized training system that contributes to discovering talents, qualifying national competencies, and raising the quality of theatrical practice, by providing training programs that combine academic qualification and practical application, contributing to the growth of the theater and performing arts sector in the Kingdom, in line with the goals of the National Strategy for Culture and Saudi Vision 2030.
