The Saudi Red Crescent Authority continues to enhance the capabilities of the air ambulance system, which transported 1,526 patients and injured individuals via helicopters during 2025, within an advanced ambulance network aimed at accelerating response to emergencies and increasing chances of saving lives in various regions of the Kingdom.

Riyadh topped the Kingdom's regions with a coverage rate of 91.42%

The authority's annual report stated that the air ambulance system includes 12 bases distributed across the Kingdom's regions, along with 13 twin-engine helicopters dedicated to transporting injured individuals from accident sites to hospitals, and two fixed-wing aircraft for long-distance medical transport, with 170 reserved flight hours to support air ambulance services.

The report indicated that air ambulance services covered more than 27 million people, contributing to enhanced speed of access to critical cases, especially on highways and in peripheral and remote areas, in addition to supporting specialized medical transport operations between hospitals and referral centers.

The Riyadh region led the coverage areas with 91.42%, followed by the Makkah region with 23%, then the Eastern Region with 9%, and Medina with 6%, while the coverage rate in Qassim and Jazan reached 4% each, and Hail recorded the lowest coverage rate at 2%.

The authority affirmed its continued readiness to face emergencies and crises by conducting regular drills and participating in national exercises, along with developing its human and technical capabilities through continuous training and analysis of lessons learned, contributing to improved response efficiency and enhanced integration with relevant authorities.
