Galaxy Ring: First Smart Ring to Detect Sleep Apnea with Official Medical Approval
Samsung announced during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event that its Galaxy Ring smart ring will later this year gain a new feature to detect sleep apnea risks, making it the first smart ring to receive FDA approval for this function.
The company explained that the feature will be available in the fall as part of an update to the Samsung Health platform, emphasizing that it is a risk assessment tool and not a medical diagnostic device, recommending consultation with a specialist when indicators warrant examination.
Samsung said this approval gives the Galaxy Ring an edge in the wearable device market, while it did not specify an exact launch date other than saying it will be before the end of the year.
