The Health Affairs of the National Guard has performed its first remote robotic surgery (telesurgery), where a specialized medical team at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh conducted a surgery on a patient located at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, in an advanced model that embodies integration between the two facilities.

The operation brought together the teams of kidney and urinary tract surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh and Jeddah, and was performed via the KANGDUO – SageBot platform specialized in robotic surgery, leveraging artificial intelligence technologies and advanced communication networks to ensure high precision in remote surgical performance.

This achievement represents a qualitative step in employing remote robotic surgery technologies within the healthcare system of the National Guard, as it will enable future surgical procedures for patients without the need to transfer them between cities, thereby reducing logistical burdens and enhancing the efficiency of provided health services.
