National Guard succeeds in first remote robotic surgery between Riyadh and Jeddah
The Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard conducted a pioneering surgical procedure (Telesurgery), which involves performing remote robotic surgeries (surgeon in one city and patient in another). Last Wednesday, the first procedure using this new technology was performed in the Health Affairs for a patient in Jeddah by a medical team in Riyadh, in an advanced model of integration between the two surgical teams in the departments of kidney and urinary tract surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical Cities in Riyadh and Jeddah.
The operation was carried out via the KANGDUO – SageBot platform, where surgeons at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh performed the procedure on a patient at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah with high precision, utilizing robotic surgery technologies via artificial intelligence and advanced communication.
This success is an advanced step in employing remote robotic surgery technologies, confirming the integration among the facilities of the Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard to improve the quality and efficiency of health services provided to patients, which will facilitate in the future performing surgeries for patients without the need to transfer them to other cities.
