في خطوة أثارت عاصفة من الغضب والجدل في الأوساط الطبية التركية، بدأت وزارة الصحة حرباً علنية ضد الارتفاع القياسي في العمليات القيصرية، طالت عقوباتها نحو 100 طبيب نساء وتوليد ما بين غرامات مالية وإيقاف ممارسين عن العمل.

تأتي هذه الإجراءات الصارمة تزامناً مع تصدّر تركيا قائمة دول منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية بأعلى معدل للولادات القيصرية، بواقع 615 عملية لكل 1000 ولادة حية عام 2023. وهو ما دفع الحكومة إلى إطلاق حملة «عقد الأسرة» للحد من تراجع معدلات الإنجاب، وتشديد الرقابة على خيارات الولادة المتاحة للنساء.

وبحسب تقارير لغرفة أنطاليا الطبية وموقع «ديكن» الإخباري، لم تقتصر العقوبات على التحذيرات والتحقيقات التأديبية فحسب، بل وصلت إلى الفصل والوقف عن العمل؛ إذ أُوقف طبيب في مستشفى خاص بمدينة سكاريا لستة أشهر بطلب من الوزارة، وأُلزم، كغيره من الأطباء المعاقبين، بالخضوع لتدريب إجباري في مستشفى حكومي واجتياز امتحان تأهيلي قبل السماح له بالعودة إلى مزاولة مهنته مجدداً.

In a move that sparked a storm of anger and controversy in Turkish medical circles, the Ministry of Health has launched an open war against the record rise in cesarean sections, targeting around 100 obstetricians and gynecologists with penalties ranging from fines to suspension from practice.

These strict measures come as Turkey tops the OECD countries with the highest cesarean section rate, with 615 procedures for every 1,000 live births in 2023. This has prompted the government to launch the "Family Contract" campaign to curb declining birth rates and tighten oversight on the birthing options available to women.

According to reports from the Antalya Medical Chamber and the "Diken" news site, the penalties have not been limited to warnings and disciplinary investigations; they have extended to dismissal and suspension from work. A doctor at a private hospital in Sakarya was suspended for six months at the ministry's request and was required, like other penalized doctors, to undergo mandatory training at a public hospital and pass a qualifying exam before being allowed to return to practice again.
