A shocking incident within legal circles in Egypt, as lawyer Essam al-Batawi, who is considered one of the most famous lawyers in the country, died on Tuesday morning while standing before the court to deliver his defense.

Al-Batawi was defending in one of the cases before the Qena Criminal Court when he suffered a sudden health crisis while speaking, losing consciousness due to a coma, which prompted those present to immediately intervene and call an ambulance to transport him to Qena University Hospital, according to local media.

Despite the speed of his transfer to receive necessary medical care, sources confirmed that the lawyer passed away before reaching the hospital, ending a professional career that spanned years as he practiced the work he dedicated his life to until his final moments.
