Abu Dhabi, April 15 /WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, issued a federal decree appointing His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei as Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat.

His Excellency previously held the position of Executive Director for Islamic Affairs at the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and is the Director General of the UAE Council for Sharia Fatwa, and a member of the Board of Trustees of 'Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities' since 2020, and holds a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence and Contemporary Issues from Mohammed V University - Abu Dhabi.
