During the first quarter of this year, 331 airport complaints were recorded, with complaints at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah exceeding those at other airports by 27.5%, according to complaint indicator and compliance rate data. Meanwhile, most airports achieved a full 100% compliance rate in handling complaints, reflecting the development of the passenger care system and improved response efficiency to their feedback. The report by the General Authority of Civil Aviation for the first quarter of 2026 revealed 331 complaints. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah accounted for the largest share, with 91 complaints (27.5%), followed by King Fahd International Airport in Dammam with 66 complaints (20%), King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with 50 complaints (15%), Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina with 25 complaints (8%), Hail Airport with 16 complaints (5%), Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk with 14 complaints (4%), Abha and Najran airports tied with 13 complaints each (3.9%), Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Airport in Qassim with 8 complaints (2.4%), Al Jouf Airport with 7 complaints (2%), and Prince Abdulmohsin bin Abdulaziz Airport in Yanbu with 5 complaints (1.5%). In contrast, Qurayyat, NEOM, Wadi al-Dawasir, and Ta’if International airports had the fewest complaints, with only one each. Qaysumah, Red Sea, Dawadmi, Rafha, Sharurah, and Arar airports each had two complaints, King Abdullah Airport in Jazan had three, and King Saud Airport in Al Baha had four.

An increase in complaints at some airports does not necessarily indicate a decline in service quality, as it is often linked to higher passenger numbers and operational intensity. Conversely, the speed of complaint handling and high compliance rates reflect the maturity of the customer service system, the effectiveness of feedback channels, and the airports' commitment to improving passenger experience, enhancing quality and transparency, and turning user feedback into continuous opportunities for service development and operational performance improvement in the Saudi civil aviation sector. Complaints by airport: Jeddah: 27.5% Dammam: 20% Riyadh: 15% Medina: 8% Hail: 5% Tabuk: 4.2% Abha: 3.9% Najran: 3.9% Qassim: 2.4% Al Jouf: 2%
